The Morning After

Engagement photos? How about morning after the wedding photos? Jenn and Ryley have been featured on Enzoani's Insider blog before, and now they're back again with a morning after the wedding shoot. We talk with the photographer behind this ethereal magic, Teresa Brincat, about her style, and inspiration. Teresa has inspired us with a new idea of what to do with our wedding gowns.

How did you get started with photography?

Travel introduced me to photography. I was excited by the idea that I could share the thoughts and feelings I was experiencing back home with those around me and that I could snap freeze moments and relive them whenever I looked at my images.

What is your style? Or how would you describe it?

Photojournalistic or documental wedding photography seeks out authenticity and natural storytelling. We capture your wedding with minimal direction and focus on a wide variety of moments. We may provide an opportunity for photography to take place, but we aim to ensure this is comfortable, natural and an extension of your wedding.

We learn about what is important for our couples. We use observation and intuition to anticipate moments. We love quiet moments full of old world romance with moody tones and layered processing. No two weddings we edit will look the same.

Why wedding photography? Do you have favorite shoots?

Wedding photography is an absolutely thrilling genre. Everyone is excited, happy, glammed up and we get to be there to interpret and create heirloom memories. We consider ourselves very lucky! Although we pour hours of work into our finished gallery, we love it without end.

Explain more about this shoot, how did it come about?

Jenn & Ry’s morning after shoot came about after gentle hinting the idea of perhaps extending the celebration of their wedding day. The day often goes by quickly, it is full of big wonderful moments and at the end of the night, there may not have been many opportunities to share intimate reflections as a newly married couple.

Extending the wedding day celebration with a morning after shoot is a perfect way to capture more intimate moments, often a lot more relaxed and nonchalant. We stand back and capture all those unique expressions of reflection - often really romantic and intimate. Perhaps a beautiful morning picnic or "wreck the dress" session can be added, which is what we did for Jenn & Ry.

We had a secluded spot set up in the rocks, surrounded by rugs, cushions, and candles, a platter complete with morning shots of tequila (if you’re game) and the sun rising over the horizon. It looked and felt like something out of a movie.

Finally, we finished with a "wreck the dress" (although it only got wet, not wrecked) where we took our underwater camera kit and captured some truly ethereal moments.

Should couples have an after morning wedding shoot?

This kind of shoot isn’t for everyone and it may not be practical the very morning after. But it can come to life as a start to a honeymoon, perhaps a celebration of a wedding anniversary or as a special date night (or even a proposal). Who wouldn’t love being whisked away to a secluded spot, surrounded by yummy food, delicate styling and the one you love - all captured in a gallery that will forever live on?
