During a hot summer day, Brittney and Alex tied the knot in a gorgeous vintage chic wedding at Maplehurst Farm. Their story shows again that no matter what the circumstances, you'll eventually find your way back to with the one. Soul mates? Destiny? Fate? Whatever the cause, these two were made for each other. Follow them on their big day!

It was October 2013, my friend Victoria and I decided to celebrate our annual fall day by having friends over to carve pumpkins! Victoria had mentioned that a guy named Alex was coming over and I might think he’s cute!

People started showing up and I remember Alex walked up the stairs in pink pants and a pumpkin in hand! Victoria was right, I thought he was SO cute, pink pants and all! We became friends went out several times, but life had different plans for us and we went our separate ways.

Until we bumped into each other again, considering we were stopped in the middle of the crosswalk heading opposite directions, our conversation was quick, but I could feel both of us had MUCH more we wanted to talk about. We got in touch right after our “Meet Cute” and made plans for a date 2 days later. From there we went on another date, and another, and another... well you get the point.

We absolutely fell in love! Loving him was and is so easy. We share so many similar values and passions in life and I couldn’t imagine my life with anyone else. He will forever be my person and the love of my life.

The Proposal.

I still get goose bumps thinking about the day that Alex proposed to me. It was the one weekend we had absolutely NO PLANS (which is very rare for us).

I woke up Saturday morning to a kiss on my forehead and Alex whispering, “Pack a bag, I am taking you on a surprise weekend getaway.” He had already arranged for someone to pick up our dog for the weekend and everything!

And mind you, this is not something out of the ordinary for Alex to do either. Since I met him he is always going out of his way to surprise me.

So, we got in the car and headed out. Next thing you know we are pulling into the heart of Western Washington wine country at the most beautiful lodge, Willows Lodge in Woodinville.

We walked in and we were immediately handed a glass of wine (yes please!). After we checked in we headed out to the back where they have these beautiful gardens.

As we were walking through the gardens Alex stops and turns to me. Next thing you know BAM he is on one knee asking me to MARRY HIM.

So many emotions came flooding through me. Everything he said to me was quite a blur, but I was in tears and Alex was in tears.

After a million hugs and kisses and then phone calls to my fam and besties, we headed to lunch down the street where he made reservations.

As we pulled into the restaurant my entire family and his entire family were waiting outside with a “She said yes!” sign.

Alex and I are both extremely close to our families, so it was so special that he arranged for them to be there and celebrate with us.

When we got back to our room after lunch, The Lodge had delivered a bottle of champagne, a photo of our proposal in a frame and a long stem red rose!

We spent the rest of the night sitting on our balcony, drinking wine and listening to live music that was down in the gardens. The day was perfect, and I will never forget it.

Something unique Alex and I had for our wedding was we wanted our wedding to be one big party with our family and friends and didn’t want anything too fancy/formal, so we had a woodfired pizza food truck (Pizza’zza Mobile) for our caterer!

The pizza is made with all local fresh farm ingredients and it was DELICIOUS. All our guest kept raving about it. Also, neither Alex and I are big cake eaters so not only did they make pizza, but they also brought homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches filled with local ice cream for dessert! It was the perfect touch to our big day!

Alex and I are still glowing from our big day! We still watch our wedding video at least once a week. We continue to love each other more and more every day and I can’t imagine doing life with anyone else!

We are currently looking to buy a home and we cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us.

The dress search was incredibly fun! The first time I went I invited my mom, grandma, sister, mother in law, sister in law and a couple of my friends. It was quite the party, but I wanted them to be there when I said YES.

I had an idea in mind of what I wanted but we went to two different shops and tried on what I felt like was a million dresses, but I didn’t quite find the one. So, a couple months later I decided to go to a different shop, La Belle Elaine in Eastlake Washington.

This time I only brought my sister and my mom. I tried on about 5 different dresses and still wasn’t sold. I was about to throw my clothes back on and call a day until the consultant said she had one more dress that I might like which was the Enzoani Juri Dress.

So, I said what the heck why not! I put it on and I got this feeling that I hadn’t felt before. I felt beautiful in it! I loved the simple yet beautiful details that the dress had. It was something that I wouldn’t have picked on my own. It was perfect, and I immediately said YES to the dress.

There are so many memories from that day that I will absolutely cherish forever! One of which was Alex and I’s first look. I remember waking up so early that morning just dreaming about the moment we were going to see each other.

Seconds from when I tapped on his shoulder and he turned around it was nothing but magical. Looking at him and knowing today is the beginning of the rest of our lives together and I couldn’t be luckier.

Another favourite of the day was at the end of the night. We have LOTS of fun family friends and they love to dance!

The moment the music started everyone flooded to the dance floor and they didn’t stop dancing the whole night!

The best part was when “Piano Man” by Billy Joel started playing at the end of the night, everyone got in a giant circle with their arms wrapped around each other just shouting the words!
