I met my husband Mark in University. I had always admired him from afar, but our paths were yet to cross. Three years studying together in University led to a close friendship. He was funny, charming and a true gentleman (even with his very strong Scouse accent!). He used to bring me little treats in the library when we were studying for an exam or writing an assignment. It wasn't until the third year that our feelings for each other became known, and the subtle flirting turned into "outrageous flirting" as were Mark's words in his speech.

After 3 years of friendship, taking the next step into a relationship was easy. It didn't take long before we were head over heels in love with each other; we were besotted, devoted and inseparable. A relationship had never felt so easy, so real, it just felt right. We were best friends, soul mates and each other's rock. Three years after graduating from University together , Mark surprised me with a ring on Christmas Eve 2016 and asked me to marry him, and of course I said YES!!

We had planned to have a long engagement so we could buy our first home and develop our careers; however, my father's health was deteriorating rapidly after being diagnosed with dementia, and more than anything I wanted my Dad to be with us, both physically and mentally, on our special day. I wanted him to be by my side walking down the aisle. So, with little time to plan and save, we booked the wedding for the following year in Greece.

We both love all the Greek islands; each one is so beautiful and unique. That summer we scouted out some venues on the island of Zakynthos, and we stumbled across a secluded, picturesque and intimate venue on the North East of the Island - we both knew instantly that this was the one!

We handmade all the little touches, and even my dad got involved with the crafty bits, although he didn't really know why or what he was doing. It was so special to have family and friends come together to make sure our wedding could go ahead, and everyone played a special part. My super talented Auntie, who happens to be Managing Director of Enzoani UK/EU, was my inspiration for all the handmade touches. Auntie Jen has such a beautiful, stylish, creative mind and with her help and guidance, there was no obstacle we couldn't overcome. Without my Auntie and Uncle, my wedding simply wouldn't have been possible.

Everything fell into place naturally, our wedding felt so special. Our closest family and friends attended, and we were overwhelmed with the number of loved ones who wanted to be there on our very special day in Greece. Not only did I have the wedding of my dreams; we were also able to, as a family, enjoy precious moments with my Dad which we will all treasure forever. He may not remember, but we will always remember for him. 

My most precious moment was having my dad walk me down the aisle to the man of my dreams, I feel so lucky to have this memory. I remember seeing Mark's face as he saw me for the first time that day; it is also the first time I have ever seen him cry. Another memory that I am very proud of is my eldest brother taking it upon himself to do the "father of the bride" speech, as my dad was sadly unable to. My brother's words were perfect, and I couldn't have asked for anything more.

I also recall a rather funny memory when we were saying our vows and Mark completely mixed up the words. Then when it came to my part, I was so lost in the moment staring into Mark's eyes that I couldn't even hear the registrar asking me several times to 'repeat after him'. We probably should have practised our vows before the big day!!

Tell us about your gown!

I was looking for a dress that was simple and elegant, yet still had the "wow" factor. As soon as I tried on LUZ from the Blue by Enzoani collection, I instantly fell in love. It was perfect. The beautiful beaded Chantilly lace sparkled in the light, and the soft and plain Georgette fabric cascaded down the long train, and it had the most stunning lace detail. It really took my breath away!

I knew when I looked over and saw my Mother and Auntie crying that this truly was the dress for me. It complemented my figure, and I had never felt so confident in a plunge dress. I also knew that this dress would suit our Grecian wedding and hot weather with the low, open V-back. I loved every aspect of this dress, and I didn't need to alter anything.

Do you have any words of wisdom for other brides?

Don't stress over the little things, everything has a way of falling into place. Take time to prioritise the things that matter to you most. We were working on a tight budget and wanted to make sure that food was plentiful, drinks were flowing and the music was good, so that everyone would be having a great time! 

At the end of the day, no one is going to remember if your flower arrangements looked good. It's about everyone coming together and making memories to last a lifetime ♥
