We were friends in high school, but it wasn’t until after high school that we realised there were feelings between us. The day we finished high school, Hayden went on a 2 month overseas holiday with his family, and we spoke every day, but I was worried he would lose interest with so much time apart especially as we weren’t really dating. The day he came back, my family went on holiday up the coast for 2 weeks. Little to my knowledge, Hayden convinced his parents to book a weekend away up the coast so he could see me. I was walking with my sister by the river and looked over, shocked, to see Hayden standing there with a picnic! That night he asked me to be his girlfriend, and gave me a necklace with “18/01/2013” engraved. We’ve been together ever since and are engaged to marry!
