We met in 8th grade at a school dance. In high school I was a shy nerd and Ev was a star wrestler and football player. We had been friends since junior year of college and senior year we liked each other but nothing ever came of it since we were going to colleges 300 miles apart. Fast forward to our first year in college and we still talked every day. When I got home for the summer he asked me out while we were hiking and we were inseparable all summer. Once fall came we had to go back to school and we dated long distance for 4 years. Evan followed me to Pittsburgh, PA where I was starting nursing school. He worked 2 jobs to keep us afloat since I wasn’t able to work through my program. Covid hit shortly after I graduated and it tested and pushed us; since he was furloughed and I was working in a Covid ICU. But despite the challenges thrown our way we fought through everything together. On April 29, 2022, days before our 8th anniversary, he proposed on a hike in Utah.
