It’s crazy that I knew the same people as Nadim – the same friends and the same acquaintances, but somehow we did not know each other. We actually grew up in the same district, but never talked.
I moved away from our shared district at the age of 14. Oddly enough, we got to know each other via Facebook two years later. Since then we have been inseparable. I truly believe in fate now – how is it possible this all happened?!
We had been writing to each other for some time, and then we finally met for the first time. It was very exciting. In comparison, he was so big and wide, and I was so small in his opinion.
Up until now, we had been together for 7 1/2 years. It was then that he asked me to marry him. My brother, Nadim, and I went on vacation on the beach from Zanzibar (Tanzania, Afrika). He asked me if I would like to marry him.
Our anniversary is April 1st, 2011 and our civil wedding was the same day, only 8 years later :)
The wedding day started out so nice as I was with my bridesmaids in my fitting room. Before the ceremony began, we had so much fun, with drinks, doing makeup, taking pictures and making nonsense together.
My mother did my hair, and I myself did my own makeup.
One of my fondest memories was when my brother had brought me to the altar, and I saw my husband. As I looked around, I saw all of our guests come from far and wide to Mallorca to celebrate this wonderful time with us.
Toni, our ceremony leader, had made it so beautiful as he told our love story. On the one hand, it was emotional and sweet, but on the other hand, he also made it funny.
The day was gorgeous with a nice ambience as guests sat there with umbrellas under the palm trees - it was so warm (30°C)!
When the dinner started, a few people made a speech, my mom, Nadim’s aunt, my maid of honor and Nadim’s best man. Many tears flowed, it was so emotional. We love to travel, so we had a globe where all guests immortalized themselves by signing off on it.
The food was cooked fresh, outside on an outdoor kitchen, behind a few trees.
The party was around our big swimming pool, with a cocktail bar, all the people dancing, and at midnight we both jumped in the pool, with a few of our friends.
Two days after our wedding, we did an after-wedding shoot. I woke up my mother at 3 o’clock in the morning to help me with my hair again. Our two photographers and two videographers picked us up at 4 o’clock in the morning from our villa for our 1-hour drive up the mountain, Cap the Formentor.
We waited for the sun to rise, I pulled up at the top of the mountain, my husband helping me, and we did the shoot. Getting up so early was well worth it! Fantastic!
I chose the Lennox gown because of its simplicity, but at the same time, it had so many different wonderful features, for example, the crystal beads on the back.
The color was in my opinion special, it was not your typical white. For me, it was the perfect fit for myself and our wedding style.
