Alex and I met at university. We were on the same course and had been paired up in a tutoring class, by complete fate. We still laugh about how shy we both were at the time, unsure what we thought about one another. Luckily we exchanged contact details that day and later got chatting.
The rest just fell into place.

Within just a few weeks of getting to know each other, Alex asked me to be his girlfriend. It may have seemed soon to others, but I always think you can never move too fast if both of you feel the time is right.
And perhaps a testament to that is the fact we are still as strong, and totally in love, over 7 years later.

It was last year in Antigua, on a beautiful secluded beach, that Alex got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. And I, of course, said yes!
Words can’t describe how over the moon we both felt at that moment. After Alex proposed, we spent the next couple of hours enjoying complete privacy, with no Wi-Fi, no other humans - just the two of us under the sun, listening to the sounds of the waves, taking it all in.

The only other moment that rivals this was, of course, our wedding day.
It may sound cliche, but I don’t think either of us has ever had a moment of doubt about being together.
Alex is the most incredible friend and husband I could wish for. And I couldn’t imagine life without him.

There were so many memorable moments in the day, such as: spending the morning getting ready with three of the most amazing and supportive ladies in my life - my mum, my sister, and sister-in-law; holding my dad’s hand tight as we made our way to the ceremony; seeing Alex down the aisle for the first time and both grinning - realizing the day we had planned for so long was finally happening; having all our friends and family in one room, supporting us; and, of course, swapping out my heels for a pair of throwaway flip flops to dance the night away!

Perhaps the most special memory for us though, was my 90-year-old Nan surprising us with a speech in the ceremony. Amongst all the excitement and buzz of the day, Nan ended on this poignant note: “My only wish is that, in 50 years' time, you are both still as happy and as in love as you are today.” There wasn’t a dry eye in the room! These words will always stick with us.

Almost a year ago, when I started my search for a dress, I instantly fell in love with the Enzoani collections - with their distinctive lace detailing and statement trains. They say you will find the “one” dress, but for me, it was about finding that “one” designer who suits your style and choosing from there.
My mum and sister (also my Maid of Honour) came with me to my first fitting at The Wedding Dress Shop, which we knew stocked lots of Enzoani dresses. The team there were beyond helpful; they really spent time understanding my style and vision, and gathered lots of dresses they thought I might like to try on.

Trying on a wedding dress for the first time is one of those “pinch yourself” moments. Something you dream of growing up, but is so surreal when it finally becomes real.

Little did I know the first dress I put on, in the first shop, would be the one I would end up walking down the aisle in the NOLEN gown.
It was the flattering lace bodice and statement train on the NOLEN that left me swooning. I tried on several other Enzoani dresses that day which I loved, but I just kept coming back to Nolen. After lots of pictures, teary eyes and hugs with my mum and sister, I said yes to the dress.

Advice to other brides?
1. Don’t panic if you are torn between multiple dresses. Enjoy trying lots of different styles on, you only get to do it once! Go with your gut and choose a dress that gives you goosebumps when you put it on - if you get this feeling, you can’t go wrong.
2. Relax, and make sure you take a moment out in the day to take it all in with your partner - even if just for 10-15 minutes. It will fly by! We shared a glass of fizz together in our room before the meal.
3. If, like me, you find yourself too excited to get any sleep the night before your big day... don’t stress. Trust me, the adrenaline will not let you feel tired on the day! One thing is for sure, you’re going to have the time of your life.
