A catch-up with Goldie's Bridal store owner, Jodie!

Tell us a little bit about your store's background and how you came to partner with Enzoani and Bridal Collective.

Jodie: "It’s always been a dream of mine to open a bridal store. When it came to shopping for my own wedding dress, the experience was not as special or unique as I expected. By opening Goldie’s, not only can I provide an intimate and unforgettable experience, I can also show my customers gowns that will ﬁt their vision of their perfect wedding dress. Partnering with Enzoani and Bridal Collective was a no brainer. The style, quality and ﬁt are second to none. We carry two lines now, and they just get better and better!

My husband built the shop, with the help of family and some great friends. We had a clear vision in our mind of what the shop should be and look like, which is a departure from the ‘norm,’ and appealing to brides who are looking for something unique and modern."

What is your favourite part about working in bridal, and why?

"I absolutely love my job and being a part of a bride's journey. I truly enjoy helping with style and ﬁt and exploring the ﬁner details of what the bride is looking for. It is such a special moment when a bride says yes to the dress, and I always make sure the fridge is stocked with bubbles to celebrate."

We’re living in such unexpected and crazy times with the pandemic. How have you/your store/your brides adapted to our ‘new normal’?

"As we are by appointment only, I allow time to clean and steam/disinfect the gowns in between appointments, but thankfully the shop is big enough to socially distance with a small group. Ensuring the safety of our customers and reducing the spread of the virus is key, but we do our best to make it as special for the bride as possible, such as video calls with relatives/bridal party who would normally be there. Secondly, we have implemented Virtual Appointments, where brides can have a virtual consultation with one of our stylists to discuss their ideal style, budget, fabrics, accessories, etc via video call. At this point, we short-list their favourite dresses, minimising their exposure during their appointment. This also helps people to feel welcome and relaxed prior to their private appointment."

There’s often a special moment when a bride ﬁnds “The One” – was there any particularly memorable story or experience with a bride you would like to share with us?

"Well… I do love it when a big tough dad comes along with his bride-to-be daughter, and within the space of a few minutes, he is happily discussing the pros and cons of lace versus satin and whether or not she should go with sand lining as it complements her skin tone! Dads are the best."

Do you have any favourite gown(s) from our Bridal Collective divisions? What do you love most about the gown(s)?

"Lesley is my secret weapon, I usually pull her out at the end, but I have a soft spot for a simple elegant gown too, such as Nelia (that cape!). The 2021 Blue by Enzoani collection is very special; I think Naroza and Natsuko are going to be big hits."

"Sabina! This gown would be sassy and chic with a hint of exotic."
