In 2021, I moved from Chicago to the Bay Area. I left behind everything that was home: family, friends, job and a long term relationship that no longer served me. To say this leap was hard is an understatement. About 6 months after moving, I met Adam via a dating app. We bonded over similar experiences of moving away from home. He took me out on our 1st date and our personalities immediately clicked. We flirted and laughed the whole night and ended with plans for our 2nd date. I finally understood the statement “when you know you know”. He was everything I’d been looking for in a partner and more. Later that year we moved into our first house together. He took a place thousands of miles away and made it feel like home. Exactly a year after dating, he flew me back to Chicago where he proposed to me in front of all my loved ones. As we continue our love story as a newly engaged couple, I couldn’t imagine my life without him. Home is no longer a place but a person, and that person is Adam
