"I met my husband Alan in the local bar one night. He was friends with my brother-in-law and was renovating their new home at the time, so we started chatting and bought me a drink. We hit it off straight away. A couple of weeks went by, and he finally plucked up the courage to ask me out on a date. I said yes to that date without any hesitation. It was a Sunday night, and we visited an Italian restaurant, then back to his to watch a movie. We got on well and just clicked. I didn’t see him for a few weeks after that with him being an oil worker, but we kept on chatting to each other. I knew this charming, funny, caring man was who I wanted to spend my life with. One year down the line, and we bought a new home together and moved in. Another year went by, and we were sat on the sofa one night, and he gave me the biggest surprise. A beautiful, sparkly Vera Wang ring. It wasn’t the most romantic of proposals, but that gorgeous ring made up for that. Right there and then, I was eager to start planning our wedding. I was most excited about dress shopping, but who wouldn’t be! It was only one year later on the 18th of June 2022 when we said 'I do' at the Carrbridge Hotel near Aviemore. A venue very special to us. I know it sounds cliché, but it really was one of the best days of our lives."

How did you choose your wedding dress?

"I went wedding dress shopping with a particular style in mind. I knew in my head what I was looking for or what I thought I was looking for. Being open-minded and coming out of my comfort zone helped me find my dream dress. It was on my third visit to Angharad Bridal that I finally said yes to the dress. I tried on over 30 dresses before, so I knew this was the one. It was like nothing I had already tried on, and as soon as I walked out and stood in front of the mirror, everyone had a tear in their eye. I knew I wasn’t leaving without this dress. The simple, flawless look of this dress is what wowed me and the way it fit my body giving it that amazing silhouette shape. It made me feel fantastic. I couldn’t get over how long and beautiful the train looked. I received endless comments on my wedding day. I did add my own little touches to the dress by adding some spaghetti straps and beautiful sparkly buttons down the back and along the train. I felt this dress was made for me and matched perfect with the stunning cape I chose to go with it. The dress and cape together were everything!

What was the most memorable part of your day?

"Every moment of our wedding day is something I will never forget. What stood out to me the most was looking around and seeing all my family and close friends all together in the same place loving and supporting us. Knowing that each and every one of them was there to share and celebrate our wedding day with us made me feel special. Especially family that had travelled across the country to be there. Having my best friend from high school travel all the way from Australia to be one of my bridesmaids meant everything to me and Alan. Having a small intimate wedding gave us the chance to share special moments with everyone, catching up with the family we hadn’t seen for a long time. These moments were important to me because family is everything."
