Karly’s Corner - What’s Your Wedding Gown Style?

Romantic? Sexy? Ethereal? Let's find out!

You've seen her before on our IGTV and our Real Bride by Enzoani series on YouTube, and now she's back! Enzoani Brand Ambassador Karly Komoroske from Blush Bridal Couture in Tustin, California teams up with us here to answer our brides' frequently asked questions during these crazy times. We want to help put your minds at ease!

We know the world looks a little different right now, and so can weddings. But for when you're ready to start (or resume) your wedding planning and wedding dress shopping, we're here to help!

The topics today? Let us tell you!

- Your "To-Do" list before shopping for a wedding dress

- What exactly is your wedding dress style?

- PLUS, a few other tidbits here and there...

Let's get started!

Karly: "So, first things first...you've found 'The One!' Your partner-in-crime, ride-or-die, BAE, your best friend, maybe. Congratulations! After that, you want to cross off your wedding venue... That's right.

'Where will my wedding be? Where is my venue?'

Big decisions are going to be made. Backyard? Beach? Snowy mountaintop? Possibly a destination wedding in the future? There are so many options, and at this time, maybe it's a good thing to take it slow and do your research."

Karly: "You will pick your venue for a reason; as you were touring the venue and looking through options, you slowly started to imagine what your big day will look like. Your vows could be said here, your best friend could potentially give their speech here, the first toast of the night could be hosted here, your first dance could possibly go here or here... the list goes on.

While you were imagining the events of your wedding, you might have also imagined yourself in some sort of gown that would accompany your venue and aesthetic."

Karly: "Keep in mind the future date and weather surrounding your venue as well!

For example, a tropical location with sandy beaches would be great for a lighter gown that's easier to move in and to deal with the humid weather.

Booked it during the snowy winter? Maybe something with lacy sleeves. The combinations are endless!"

Karly: "So after you've found your venue, confirmed a date - what's next? We're going to find you your dream gown now and we have some tips for you!

  • What's your everyday wear?
    • Think about your style; where do you usually shop at? Your gown will be a reflection of you and your personality. Boho, clean, modern, preppy, classic, or anything that can really describe you... Tell your bridal consultant, and they will pull something for you that hopefully fits those keywords. It's not a costume and you're not dressing up as a bride -- you are dressing yourself as a bride.
  • It is trial and error.
    • Your bridal consultant will be pulling dresses from what you've described and showed her through your inspo photos. If you're able to have an in-store appointment, you will start trying them on and narrowing down what you like and dislike. Maybe you'll love this silhouette, or elements of how this gown looks on you... have fun with it!
  • Keep an open mind.
    • You'll never know until you try, right? Try on that mermaid silhouette instead of the ball gown you wanted. Get the gown without the straps, or that dramatic train. Something you said you swore off or thought you hated might actually turn out to be something you love.
  • Take photos - if possible!
    • Disclaimer, depending on different store policies, this may not apply to all bridal stores, as some will not let guests take photos in their stores.  But if they do, trust us, this will come in handy when narrowing down your final gowns if you're torn between options A, B, or C."

Karly: "Okay, we're in the semi-finals now ladies, only two dresses remain -- but which one will come out on top?"

PRO-TIP: If allowed, have someone take photos of you as you're trying on gowns, so later you can compare how you look side by side. You love how this gown makes your waist look smaller, or this gown makes your booty pop. Or maybe even for photo purposes, you love how the lace looks here, or how the beading really looks on this gown, etc. It's easier to reference photos instead of trying to rack your brain to remember how you looked in each gown. It's okay to take a step back and take a lunch or a night to think things over before deciding on 'The One.'"
